Life (The Goods & The Bads)

  I haven't posted for a bit, so I have a lot to catch up on. There's some good news, and then there's some bad news. I think I'll share the bad news first, so I can get it over with.
  This past Friday, my grandpa (my mom's dad) passed away. He had had Parkinson's, which is a degenerative disorder. Due to his Parkinson's, his body gradually began to shut down, and because he used to be very active, it was particularly difficult for him. He was suffering for a long time, so in some ways, it's a good thing that he's finally in peace, though we're all still really sad about it. I'll miss you, Grandpa! :(
  On the bright side, school is going great. AND I GOT TO RIDE IN A LIMO!!!! (At a certain someone's b-day party!) We passed through Times Square, and waved to random people, including one dude who was wearing an Elmo costume. Yep.

  I added a new page to the blog that focuses on the trilogy I'm writing currently. Check it out! I'm including descriptions of all the important characters, and summaries of the books. It's a work in progress, so it won't be finished for a while. Enjoy! :)

School & Stuff

  I'm still here! Just've been busy with new school and everything.
  So here's the update: school is awesome! All my classes are great, and all the kids are really nice. I finished a bunch of performances of Carmen a few weeks back, and we're doing some more in February. Fun, huh?
  I'm planning on redoing some parts of the blog and adding new pages. Please feel free to post with any ideas. New iFunny pics coming soon, so check it out. I'm going to add some new polls and games, so keep checking back! Bye for now!

Summer's Almost Done!

  Sorry for the lack of posts, but these days have just been packed. Anyway, summer vacation's almost over for me! School starts a week from Thursday! Wow!
  I've been having a pretty nice summer. I just came back from Washington D.C. yesterday. Yay! I have to go for now, but I'll post more once school starts.

Summer Updates... :)

  Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I have a lot of stuff to share.
  To start, camp finished not this previous Friday, but the one before. We had four performances of Hamlet that week, played dodgeball (don't ask), watched Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (still don't ask), and cried (a lot - don't even think about it.)
  Well, since you're probably wondering, at CSS, which is the camp that I went to this year, dodgeball is THE sport that we play. Wanna know how it originated? I have no clue, well I'll make that we have no clue. C'mon, what does Shakespeare have to do with dodgeball?
  Anyways, I had a lot of fun, and I definitely learned more about Hamlet - and dodgeball - than I had ever planned on. :)
  Came back from another vacation in Greenport yesterday. It was REALLY fun.
  The rest of this post is going to be devoted to the Olympics, 'cause, admit it, it's what EVERYONE is talking about. Hey, it only happens every four years or whatever, so let's enjoy it.
  I've recently gotten really into Beach Volleyball. Don't ask why. I'm not sure. It's just fun to watch. Anyway, if you're thinking of following Beach Volleyball, I recommend that you watch my two personal favorite players (and the experts), Kerri Walsh and Misty May. :)
  I also really like Gymnastics. Not doing it. Just watching it. :D I'm a big Gabby Douglas fan, and I think it's awesome that she won the All-Around Women's competition. Congrats to her! That's all!

Summer Camp

  Started summer camp this past week. It was tons of fun! :) So yeah....

Brave

  Okay, well I'm sure that many of you have heard about the new animated movie Brave. I saw it with my dad a few hours ago. I wasn't expecting it to be great, but it was actually really good! Thank you Dad for suggesting that we see it!
  The plot of Brave centers around a young Scottish princess, Merida, who is unusually talented at archery. She lives in a kingdom where bears are feared and hated due to this evil one that attacked the castle once. Merida's mother, the queen, wants to find the right husband for her daughter, and holds a contest where the three suitors have to compete in an archery-themed event. Merida doesn't want to get married, and runs away from home when she and her mother have an awful fight, which ended in the queen burning Merida's favorite bow that she got from her father, and Merida ripping a tapestry that was a portrait of the royal family.
  Merida finds a witch and pays her to "change" the queen, though Merida has no idea what will change about her mother. She goes home to find out that her mother has turned into a bear, though a gentle one. With the help of her three little brothers, Merida must change her mother back before she becomes a real bear-forever.
  Although Brave was targeted more to a younger crowd, I actually found it very touching.The mother-daughter bond that is explored is really moving, and I actually found myself crying a bit near the end. Please-anyone who hasn't seen this great movie yet-see it soon! It really is a very deeply moving movie.

Racoon

  Got back from a mini vacation with Mom and Dad earlier today. We spent a few days at this really nice hotel in Greenport. Our room had two flatscreen TVs and an outdoor deck.
  So yeah, it was pretty nice. The only part that wasn't nice was when my parents and I were going to the pool outside of the hotel yesterday, and my dad spotted a racoon perched on the fence. Now, you have to realize that this was during the day, and racoons are nocturnal, so my parents quickly realized that there was something wrong with this one.
  He was just sitting on the fence staring at us, and not moving at all, so my parents and I went inside and told the lady at the front desk of the hotel, who guessed that the racoon had rabies. She called the police and they came to help. One of the officers sprayed some water on the racoon in order to scare it off, which worked, but it just came back a few minutes later.
  This repeated for quite awhile, until eventually the racoon didn't come back anymore. It's amazing what one little swim can turn into.

The Book of Elly

  Okay, so I have this ADORABLE baby godsister named Elly. My parents and I are thinking of making a musical called The Book of Elly, you know, like a take-off on The Book of Mormon. Elly loves Dora The Explorer, so I therefore created this little dialogue between Dora and Elly herself.
Dora: Elly, what shoes are you gonna wear today? Choose quickly, 'cause I want to take you outside so we can go on an adventure, broadcast it on TV, and turn little kids' brains to mush! Sounds fun, right?
Elly: Well, it all sounds good except for the part about turning little kids' brains to mush. As far as shoes, I think I'll wear boots. It's supposed to be very cold today.
Dora: Elly, I'm very surprised with you!
Elly: Um, why? Am I missing something?
Dora: You shouldn't wear Boots without asking him first!

  Get it? Teehee. Yup, that's all for now.

Book Parodies

For almost every popular book, there is its parody. For The Hunger Games, there is the Hunger Pains:

 


For Harry Potter, there are many parodies, such as Harry Pothead and the new musical, Potted Potter:


          




For Twilight, there is the extremely off-the-walls movie Vampires Suck:




   




In each one of these parodies, the normal character names from the original books are replaced with made-up names to avoid copyright. A lot of the character names in parodies are very clever. For instance, in The Hunger Pains, Katniss Everdeen is replaced with Kantkiss Neverclean.

Summer Vacation + B-day

  Sorry I haven't written in a month! I've been really busy wrapping up school. This past Friday was my last day, and last Thursday was my birthday!!! Yup, I thought this time of year would never come.
  I had a pretty epic b-day party on Sunday, and for those of you that were there, I'm sure you're thinking the same thing. :) We saw Snow White & The Huntsman, which was REALLY good, and had a Make-Your-Own-Sundae party at my place afterwards. Life is good.

Hello Again

  Okay, once again I am a total bum for not posting. (Sigh.) I've been really busy, though. In a few hours I'm auditioning for the children's chorus part in Otello at the Met, and tomorrow I'm auditioning for Ophelia in Hamlet at the Calhoun Summer Shakespeare Program. Yup, that's life.
  Well, I'm going to publicize this before somebody else does: I'm switiching schools and going to M.S.51 next year. I'm super excited! I'll post tons about the new school: promise.
   A few of my friends emailed me comments on the video that I shared with you all in the previous post. Overall, my friends seemed to think it was pretty good. A couple problems that occured while I was filming it are: 1) the camera was shaky, and 2) when I was editing it, the audio got slightly out of sync with the visual. Oh well. I still think it's pretty cool. :)

New Template+Polls

  Alright, as some of you probably noticed, I once again redid the template. I liked the one with the flames, but since the background was so dark almost none of the text was visible. This new background is orange and looks sort of like a mix between fireworks and flames. Do you like it? Please comment on this posts if you like it or not.

More On The Katniss Everdeen Barbie

  Okay, remember the Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll that I posted a picture of yesterday? Of course you do. I did some more research on it, and I discovered that the doll came out on April 9th, and is already on back-order on pretty much every Barbie website till August! Crazy, isn't it?
  The doll actually isn't that expensive. The average price is $25.00! So it's pretty cheap, and that's probably why it's already on back-order. ;)

The Hunger Games!!!

  Did anyone notice my new blog background (with the flames?!) It's inspired by The Hunger Games, with the whole "The Girl Who Was On Fire" aspect. I just have to say this: I am TOTALLY obsessed with The Hunger Games. I've read all the books, and saw the movie last Saturday. I totally recommend this series for anyone age eleven and older.
  Anyway, yeah, I might be posting some Hunger Games Pictures Soon, so get ready!!!

Hello Again World

  Okay, well I promised that I would post more often, and let's just say I LIED!!! I am so sorry... I just am really busy with school and stuff.
   Anyway, happy Spring Break, Easter, and Passover to everyone!!! :D I had a Passover celebration last Friday night with my 'rents and some of our friends. It was awesome. Anyone who was there could tell you that.
   So yeah, I'm on Break right now, and enjoying it. Right now, I'm working on a project on Word, listening to a song on my iPod, AIMing one of my friends, Tatiana, AND writing this!!! Talk about multitasking!!!

Back From Break!!!

  Okay, so the last I posted was right before Break, which is now over. Now, we are back at school (today is our first day back.) Oh- and HAPPY 2012!! I am so happy that this is a new year!!! I love new year!!!! YAY!
  Holidays and everything went well, I guess. Yeah, I got some cool presents, like a cool cable hat and a leather jacket. I'm happy about all that, of course!! I mean, who doesn't love presents?! Nobody I know!!!!
