SCHOOL!!!!

Yes, once again I haven't had time to post. But hey, life is busy.
School started this past week! It's pretty awesome. It's a lot of work, but it's fun.
So right now I'm just savoring the chillness of the weekend. Sigh. There's a lot of homework, so it's not REALLY that relaxing, but it's the best I've got.
So that's pretty much it. I'm working on The Descendant Trilogy as we speak, so I'll be posting more about that soon.
  So yeah!

Summer's Almost Done!!

Wow. So remember how I promised to post more? That didn't exactly happen, did it?
Anyway, summer's almost done. My life has been a strange combination of reading, Met class, writing, vacationing, watching TV, and sleeping.
I recently finished reading The Great Gatsby. My verdict? It was meh. As in, it wasn't too good. I know, I know, it's a classic, but after reading Les Miserables, my standards have been set kinda high. Most of the characters in Gatsby were really despicable, so it was hard to get completely interested in the plot. Hey, but that's just my opinion. I want to see the movie when I get a chance so I can compare.
Now I'm reading The Grapes of Wrath. Yeah, I guess I'm kinda into classics at the moment. I'm on page 100, and I really like it so far. So that's good.
Just got back from Washington D.C. a couple days ago. Now I'm just chilling out, and waiting excitedly for the new season of Downton Abbey to come out (even though it's not till January, I think). I've gotten pretty into Castle, you know, the mystery show. Can't wait for the new season!
School starts in three weeks, so I'm trying to enjoy summer while it lasts. That's all for now!

Camp is Done!

Camp's done! Oh wow, it went by so quickly! The shows went really well. The last show was filmed, so I can't wait to see the DVD! Anyway, yesterday was the last day. I guess time flies when you're having fun. Can't wait till next year!
This whole week is just a relaxing week, so hopefully I'll be able to update a bit more. That's all for now!

CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shakespeare camp = FUN! I'm one of the Rosalinds in As You Like It, so that's pretty cool. The shows are next week, so this weekend I'm just chilling out and getting ready.
The only noteworthy movie I've seen recently was Man of Steel. I didn't really like it. I mean, I'm just not super into superheroes, but I went to see it on one of he last days of school 'cause we all went together. It was fun to make fun of.
Things are pretty busy around here. There's only one more week of camp, and then Met classes start up again pretty soon. And then before I know it, it'll be school again!
  Wow.
Anyway, I will find time to update the blog whenever I can. Cya!

Updates On Everything

  Okay, so some things.
I changed the template. Partly because I noticed that the old template makes it very difficult to read the reading, and also partially because I just like this template better.
The current update on the epic battle that has been going on for two years of whales against turtles on this blog seems to be leaning in favor of whales. The current scores are whales: 78% and turtles: 22%. Maybe that's just because I keep voting for whales over and over. I love turtles too. I love cute things. :)
School is ALMOST DONE!!!!!! Yay! Then camp! Yay! Yay! Yay!
I'm planning on adding some new polls and features and spicing up the blog a bit.
In the meantime, I will continue working on the various pages and maybe adding a few new ones.
  Yay!
  That's all.

Bat Mitzvah & Birthday

So my Bat Mitzvah was a week ago on Saturday, and it was awesome! The service was really amazing, and the party was so much fun. Thanks to all my family and friends for coming to help me celebrate!
My birthday was this past Friday, so that's cool.
  School is almost over!
I love school, but summer vacation seems really appealing.
  Sigh.
Next week we have Field Day! Yay!

Lazy Day

Today is a lazy day. It is very, very, very rainy and windy and unpleasant. My Bat Mitzvah is in a week. Tomorrow I have a rehearsal. So today is a lazy day.
What to do on a lazy day? Well, unfortunately my mom is sick, so she just went to the doctor. Once we find out how she's doing, my parents and I are planning on catching up on a few movies. We want to watch Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which they've seen and I haven't, and Pitch Perfect, which I've seen and they haven't. I will update either today or tomorrow with my review of Marigold Hotel if we watch it.
I'm in a haze of Bat Mitzvah prep. I've been browsing different versions of my favorite songs that I want to be played at my Bat Mitzvah party. My cousin Melanie is getting her PhD today, but my parents and I are unable to make it to the ceremony because of the weather. Congrats, Melanie! I hope you have a fun day!
I haven't updated my blog in weeks, so I feel compelled to mention that three weeks ago I saw one of the best movies ever: Juno. The script was hilarious. That comment about stage parents made me laugh so hard. It was also very sad, though, and the resolve to Juno's baby issue was very touching. The song at the end of it made me cry so hard, and I am currently humming it because it's catchy. So yeah.
There's only less than a month of school to go! Can't wait for summer vacation!

Bat Mitzvah is On the Way!!!

My Bat Mitzvah is coming up!!! In three weeks!! WOWOWOWOW!
  Oy vey.
I feel pretty prepared, and I'm looking forward to the party. It'll be fun to see all my friends and some of the relatives I've really never met. I can imagine, after the service, some lady coming up to me like "Hi, Mollie! I'm your cousin-twice-removed Lucy! I saw you when you were a baby! You're so big now!"
  Yep.
  The countdown has begun...

Downton Abbey Musical

So one of my mom's friends posted this video on Facebook of Downton Abbey... THE MUSICAL!!! It's hilarious. If you like music and you LOVELOVELOVE Downton, you will love this. Don't try watching it if you're not a Downton fan because you won't have the faintest idea what is going on. It's a riot!

Les The Miz

So MAD (that TV show on Cartoon Network) did a hilarious parody of Les Mis. So here it is. It's a wrestling version! And don't worry if you don't know anything about wrestling, because I don't either.

Kane Street Synagogue Bike-A-Thon

My long time synagogue, Kane Street, is having a bike-a-thon this upcoming Sunday to support World Bicycle Relief. Please go to the blog I made for the bike-a-thon, www.kanestreetsynagoguebike-a-thon.weebly.com for more info. I know some of you won't be able to make it to Kane Street for the bike-a-thon yourselves, but you can still donate! So go to the blog for more info. Please I'm begging you. Thanks!

Exhaustedness

Well, I've been busy. Had the school play (cool,) ELA state testing (blah,) great-aunt's Motown b-day party (yay Aunt Beth!) and more. Wowowowow that's a lot.
I've been trying my best to still get some zzzzzzs in the middle of all this chaos. Last night I got to watch the newest Doctor Who - it was a haunted house hooray - and go to bed relatively early, but then I had to wake up early this morning to put some final touches on my lab report.
I'm making progress with The Last Descendant Trilogy, because we're doing IWRs (independent writing projects) in ELA, and I want to make my project part of the first book. I've updated the page for the books a bit, so check it out.
  So that's LIIIIFE.
  Hooray hoorah blah.
  That's all for now.

The Weekend

  So: the weekend.
Gabby is working on a website! It's pretty awesome. I'll include a link to it SOON (if she lets me). :)
Anywho, I've just finished watching the latest episode of Doctor Who! I used to watch it off-and-on, but I've really gotten into this season because the new plots are awesome. I was also getting slightly bored of Amy, but The Doctor's new companion Clara is pretty cool, and she and he have some pretty hilarious dialogues. So that's kinda fun. If you don't watch it you should.
So that's that. In between sending out Bat Mitzvah invites, going to a Bar Mitzvah, watching Doctor Who, working on The Last Descendant Trilogy (by the way I'm updating the page) a lot, doing homework, and other such paraphernalia, this is a busy weekend!

More Les Mis

I watched the movie again! Couldn't resist. It was even better the second time.
I took the "Which Les Mis Character Are You" quiz (or actually, a bunch of them) and I'm Eponine. No surprise there. The character I'm the least like is Cosette. Again, no surprise.
Did you know that there's a debate about whether the correct abbreviation is Les Mis or Les Miz? I'm Les Mis all the way. It's much more classy. Did you know that the official website is lesmis.com? You better believe it. :)
Anywho, I couldn't resist creating these fashion doll versions of Cosette and Eponine:

Oz

Sorry for the lack of posts again! Now that it's Spring Break I have some time to actually post.
Anyways, I saw an awesome movie last week. It was Oz The Great And Powerful! It was great! And powerful! :)
Of course, the movie had its flaws. The fact that the ruby slippers couldn't be used (Disney didn't have the legal rights, or something) was slightly irritating, but understandable. I couldn't figure out why there wasn't a Good Witch of the South and Good Witch of the North. There was just Glinda. I guess she was both?
Evanora and Theodora were pretty awesome. I liked Oz/Oscar/The Wizard. He was a bum. That was the whole point, I guess.
I was a bit surprised that the movie didn't end with Oz going back to the real world (or whatever you want to consider "real"). That's how it was with Dorothy. Huh...
It was a fun movie. It wasn't on the same par as Les Mis, but it was fun. It was cute. Everyone should see it.

The End of Carmen + Parsifal HD Broadcast

Well, Carmen's done. :( We had the last performance last night. Me and the other kids in it had a ton of fun during the two hour break in between the scenes we sing in. We ate candy and watched The Lion King.
Parsifal was broadcasted worldwide this afternoon! After I did my singing in the first act and came home, my parents and I listened to the rest of it. Whoa, it was long! But it was pretty awesome. The singing was really amazing.
I got contact lenses! I've never been so happy in my life. For almost four years, I've been wearing my glasses to school and not wearing them to performances. Recently, I decided that my eyes really weren't doing so well, and since I wanted to be able to see better during the closing night of Carmen, I got contacts! They feel awesome! I wore them for about eighteen hours yesterday (my first day of wearing them.) I was supposed to start wearing them gradually, but I needed them for both school and the performance, so, you know...
Since I had them in for so long, they were really dry when I tried to take them out, and they wouldn't come out. Here's what worked for me: dip your finger that you're going to take the contact out with in solution. It comes out really easily if you do that.
So that's it. Bye for now!

Happy February Break!

Well, it's February Break! Sorta. I only have Monday and Tuesday off because the rest of the week we're making up the days we lost during Hurricane Sandy. So that's that.
Had a performance of Carmen last night, and Parsifal opened on Friday. Yay!
Last night in between scenes of Carmen, I finally watched Pitch Perfect. It was really fun! It was definitely a chick flick, but I liked it! The music was actually really good, and I was impressed. I thought I was going to hate it, but I didn't! Yay!

Carmen! Parsifal! Frankenstein! And More!

Oy! I haven't posted in DECADES!
So here's what new: Carmen has returned to The Met! It reopened last night! So that's fun. :)
Meanwhile, we have started rehearsals for Parsifal, which is also at The Met. We get to sing from a dome that's ABOVE THE CEILING of the stage. It's really cool!
In my drama class at school, we've started rehearsing our play, Frankenstein, which opens in April. I play Samuel (ugh, a boy) a sailor who is on a ship with Captain Walton, an ambitious captain who's adventures run parallel to Victor Frankenstein's. It's a lot of fun. Updates to come.
So yeah, there's a lot of performing going on. I also saw three movies recently: Les Misérables, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Trouble with the Curve. All of these were really good.
I totally adored Les Misérables. It was AMAZING!!! In my opinion, it was the best movie ever made, but maybe that's just me. I saw it the weekend after it came out, because I didn't want to go on the opening day. It was Christmas, and I was worried it would be too crowded. Anyway, it was to die for. Anyone who hasn't seen it yet should. It will change your life. I know it changed mine. I got all the songs on my iPod, and I listen to them constantly. I give it 5 (if not 6) out of 5 stars.
I saw Beasts of the Southern Wild a couple weeks ago. I liked it. I thought the little girl who played Hushpuppy was amazing. It had a ton of great actors. The storyline was a little hard to follow, but it was still enjoyable. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
Lastly, I just watched Trouble with the Curve this weekend. It was fun. It wasn't the most clever storyline, but it's a lot of fun. It has some sweet moments. My dad cried through most of it. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
So that's that. I'm also currently obsessed with Downton Abbey, but I don't want this post to go on forever, so I'll save that for next time. Bye!

Everything

Wow, well once again, I haven't posted in DECADES. But more to the point, I have much to report.
School's going great. This upcoming Thursday is my night of the Playwriting Festival for drama class at school!! This play that I wrote is going to be performed by a bunch of adults, and some of them are teachers!!! Is that cool or what?! I'm totally looking forward to it.
Part of the reason why I haven't had time to update this blog is that I've kinda been on the move. At funerals and whatnot. Yes, I mentioned my grandpa's death (R.I.P.) but just a week after his funeral, my great grandpa also passed away. He was 101, or really almost 102, since his birthday was coming up in February.
Great Grandpa Al came over from Poland when he was younger. He came through Ellis Island, and a few years back Mom, Dad, and I went with him and a bunch of other family members to visit Ellis Island. It was a very interesting experience. We ate Hershey's bars, which Great Grandpa had to eat a lot of during his time there (there was a vending machine, which was his only reliable food source.) Great Grandpa had a heart problem, so if he weren't for the fact that his dad bailed him out, he might not have been able to pass through Ellis Island into Detroit, and eventually Washington D.C., where he's lived with my great aunt and uncle Jeff and Beth the past few years. His wife, my great grandma Mollie who I never got to meet, was my namesake. We will all remember Great Grandpa for his positive attitude, his loving personality, and his talent at playing checkers (it's a long story.) He and Grandpa are probably playing checkers together on a special checkerboard made of clouds as we speak.
